Iiko Mazesoba, Sydney - Review

For something a little bit different from the usual Japanese fare, give the menu at Iiko Mazesoba in Haymarket a try.

This little restaurant in Sydney’s Chinatown has made a name for themselves with their take on mazesoba, a Japanese dry noodle dish full of flavour.

What is mazesoba, you ask? It’s a mix between the Japanese words *maze* (to mix) and *soba* (noodles). It’s the ideal meal for when you’re craving the filling noodles of ramen, but don’t want the heaviness of a rich broth. Drizzle your noodles with chilli oil and vinegar, mix like crazy and tuck in!

The star of the show here for us at Iiko Mazesoba would have to be their kaarage chicken. Prepared just the way we remember from our travels to Japan, these little pieces of chicken were light and incredibly juicy.

With playful Japanese graphics and colourful decor, the staff here at Iiko Mazesoba are friendly and attentive. Give it a try if you’re up for a bowl of chewy soba and tasty toppings in the heart of Sydney’s Chinatown.
