Postcard From Napoli, Oatley - Review

If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine and service, look no further than Postcard From Napoli. This cozy restaurant in the sleepy suburb of Oatley churns out some of the best wood fired pizzas we’ve ever had!

UPDATE: Unfortunately Postcard From Napoli has permanently closed. We hope they open up again in a new location soon!

Looking around the restaurant, there was not a table to spare, and plenty of takeaway orders streaming out the doors as well. The pizzas are prepared front of house so diners can watch their dinner coming to life.

We originally planned a romantic date here at Postcard from Napoli, however our visit quickly turned into a family affair when everyone caught wind of our plans - everyone was keen to try this pizza! After salivating at the menu, we ordered a few dishes to share amongst our party - salt and pepper calamari, margarita pizza, lasagna pizza and a gnocchi ragu.

First up, the calamari. It had a super crispy batter, and came as a surprisingly generous portion. After the initial crunch, the calamari melted in our mouths, so we knew it was extremely fresh! We’d have to say it was some of the best calamari we’ve had, and was better than what we’d expect from a seafood restaurant.

Next came the pizzas - and boy did they live up to the hype! The edges were crispy with a slight char from the flames of the fire, and the dough has an amazing fermented aroma that shone through the smokey flavour. The toppings were oh-so-Italian and perfectly seasoned. We loved how speedy the service was from the oven to the tables.

The pasta finished up the mains, and it was equally as delicious as the pizzas. The gnocchi was like pillows of perfection, with the ragu full of meaty flavour. We polished off every single dish and could have easily gone for more!

For dessert, we indulged in a ricotta cheesecake and classic tiramisu. The tiramisu was smooth and creamy, with just the right amount coffee and biscuits. The cheesecake was layered with pears, and was equally as decadent.

Apart from the food, one of the main elements that we enjoyed at Postcard from Napoli was the service. Owners Dino and Davide embody all the best bits of Italian hospitality, making their customers feel right at home. You can tell they truly care about the customer experience, and put a lot of love into the food!

Overall, we absolutely loved our meal at Postcard From Napoli! If you fancy trying out Postcard From Napoli for yourself, we’d recommend booking on their website. Due to popularity, you’ll be hard pressed to walk-in and find a table.
