Sabrini Foods, Sydney - Review
Sabrini Foods are experts in Indian flavours, supplying retail and wholesale food to the South Asian community in Australia since 1999.
With an incredible variety of local and international products, Sabrini Foods supply every ingredient needed to create a delicious Indian meal. Spices, rice, condiments, curries, frozen snacks - you name it, they have it. Sabrini has even had Prime Minister Scott Morrison visit their warehouse in Melbourne - talk about a star-studded fanbase!
Recently, we were lucky enough to visit Sabrini Foods' Sydney warehouse and try their new range of frozen protein meals. We love authentic Indian food, so we super excited to give these meals a go. These protein meals are made here in Australia, using fresh local produce.
First off, we love the packaging - it’s colourful and modern, with a subtle nod to traditional Indian cuisine. If we saw these meals in the frozen food section at the supermarket, they would definitely catch our eye!
Cooking Sabrini's new protein range is quick and easy - all they need is a few minutes in the microwave on high. After warming in the microwave, it’s important to let the meals stand for a minute or so, just to let the excess steam evaporate. Plate up with the provided condiments, then they're ready to serve!
Let's be real - frozen meals tend get a bad rap, and rightly so - they're normally limp, lifeless and bland, especially after being nuked in the microwave. However, we can safely say that this was not the case for Sabrini’s new protein range. Surprisingly, the chicken was still moist and tender despite the defrosting process. The meat was seasoned with authentic spices, transporting our tastebuds straight to India. Indian cuisine tends to be quite spicy, however Sabrini's protein range is mild, so it's great for the whole family. We were also big fans of the included mint chutney sauce - it was a great addition to the meal!
After tasting the whole range, our favourites meals would have to be the Reshmi Chicken Kebabs and the Chicken Biryani. We combined both to make a no-fuss Indian feast in the space of 10 minutes.
Overall, we think Sabrini Foods' new protein range would be perfect for easy work lunches, speedy dinners or meal preps in general. As far as frozen meals go, these are pretty good.
Sabrini’s new protein range will be available in Coles supermarkets in the coming weeks. If you like Indian food made right here in Australia, give these meals a try.
