Sakura Fresh Sushi, Revesby - Review

The sleepy suburb of Revesby is the last place you’d think of for scoring epic Japanese food.

But this is exactly where you’ll find Sakura Fresh Sushi, a small Japanese restaurant busy with dine in and takeaway customers alike. This popular restaurant is known as a spot for locals to satisfy their cravings for saucy sushi.

Eating at Sakura Sushi is not a refined experience by any means - rather a hearty feed with a relaxed atmosphere. The front of house kitchen clearly used to be the some sort of old school takeaway shop, with the bones transformed into a sushi station. The ordering process here was a bit chaotic, however once our order was taken our sushi came relatively quickly. It’s self serve cutlery and plates, with casual plastic outdoor seating.

We ordered two of their Sakura Special sushi rolls, the New Teriyaki Beef Special Roll and the Tiger Roll. We enjoyed both rolls - they were full of flavour, and loaded with saucy toppings. Definitely not traditional sushi by any means, but we already knew that was going to be the case before eating! The portions were quite large, although this is reflected in the price.

Overall, we had a decent experience at Sakura Sushi in Revesby. We wouldn’t rate customer service here as one of their strong points, but we would definitely go back if we were in the area for the food. It’s cash only, so be prepared.
