Top Ryde Baker’s House - Review
Top Ryde Baker’s House is fast becoming one of the most popular banh mi spots in Sydney.
Situated in Top Ryde shopping centre, this unassuming bakery was once a spot reserved for locals in the area. But thanks to the power of social media, Top Ryde Baker’s House now has visitors like us travelling from all over the city to taste their top-notch rolls.
First things first, there’s usually a line at Top Ryde Baker’s House, so plan on visiting when you’re not in a rush. The staff are pretty slow and take their time making each order, but we have a feeling that’s part of the reason their rolls are so good. Patience is a virtue! We visited around 2pm and waited approximately 15-20 minutes to be served. As this is a bakery stand, it’s worth noting that it’s takeaway only as well.
When it came time to order, we opted for the popular crispy pork and bbq pork banh mi. The staff lovingly put our rolls together, packing generous portions of pate, mayo, vegetables and meat into fresh bread. These were definitely the fullest banh mi we’ve ever seen! We’re not big fans of raw onion, so we like how they used cooked onion and crispy shallots. We also loved how they cut the meat fresh for each individual order - even though it slowed down efficiency, it meant the meat was nice and juicy.
As for the taste, we can confirm the hype for Top Ryde Baker’s House is real. The crackling in the crispy pork roll was super crispy, and the bbq pork had great flavour full of sweetness. The bread was crunchy and full to the brim with toppings. We demolished our rolls in minutes, and we were pretty tempted to go for another round!
At $9 per banh mi, we think the prices here at Top Ryde Baker’s House are justified considering how big and filling the rolls were. We’ll be lining up again sometime soon to enjoy another round of these delicious banh mi!
