Yakitori Yokocho, Town Hall - Review

Sister restaurant to the nearby Yakiniku Yokocho Japanese BBQ restaurant, Yakitori Yokocho is Sydney’s newest dining experience in the Regent Place precinct.

Tucked away on the bottom floor, the restaurant’s decor is reminiscent of a small yakitori stall in the alleyways of Omoide Yokocho, complete with rustic Japanese signs and a viewing window into the hibachi cooking area.

In typical Japanese fashion, skewers are sold per piece, and cooked to order. We ordered a selection of yakitori sticks, including the chicken thigh with Japanese leek, chicken breast with wasabi, Wagyu beef, and pork rib. You’re able to choose whether you would like your skewers with sauce or salt - we opted for the sauce option. The skewers were very flavourful, grilled to perfection with good seasoning and a smokey finish. Our favourite was the chicken thigh with leek. We will note though, if you’re looking to make your experience more of a full meal, you probably need to order rice and some sides, as the skewers themselves aren’t particularly filling.

Overall, Yakitori Yokocho is a fun new establishment worth giving a go in the heart of Town Hall!
