Holy Basil, Canley Heights - Review
Holy Basil is one of Canley Heights’ most popular restaurants, serving delicious Thai food in a fun environment. This place is a longtime favourite for Southwest Sydney locals, and it’s easy to see why!
Walking into Holy Basil, you’ll be transported straight to Southeast Asia. The restaurant decor is quite busy, filled with traditional Thai statues and plenty of climbing plants. The interior makes for a cosy atmosphere and an awesome vibe! We also liked the fact that they have a glass kitchen, meaning you can see the chefs preparing the food fresh. Even though it was busy, the staff were friendly and attentive.
The menu at Holy Basil has everything you’d expect for a Thai restaurant - appetisers, salads, curry, rice and noodle dishes. We ordered satay skewers, pad see ew, wagyu marinated bbq beef and the holy basil fried rice. When our food arrived, we were pleasantly surprised with the generous portions. Everything was cooked superbly, and the classic Thai flavours really shone through. We saw lots of tables ordering the signature crispy snapper with mango salad, so next time we visit that will be on our list. The cocktails seemed to be popular as well!
Prices at Holy Basil are on the dear end of the Thai food spectrum, however considering the atmosphere, service and quality of the food they are quite reasonable.
Overall, if you enjoy eating hearty Asian food in a unique atmosphere, Holy Basil is a place for you. Aside from their Canley Heights location, Holy Basil also has restaurants in Darling Square and Parramatta.
