Kurtosh, Darling Square - Review

Yummy cakes for sale by the slab in darling square

One of the main attractions in Sydney’s vibrant Darling Quarter, Kurtosh is a great late night dessert haven in the heart of the city.

This casual cafe is famed for its namesake dessert, the cylindrical Hungarian pastry Kürtőskalács, which is grilled to sweet crispy perfection in-house. Apart from fresh pastries, Kurtosh also has an impressive line up of drool-worthy cakes on display by the slab.

Sweet and crispy Kurtosh dessert, great for sharing with friends

We love the concept here where you order your dessert by the gram - this means you can have as much or as little as you like, and it’s easy to sample multiple desserts at once. Our go-to options here would have to be the super popular chocolate tiramisu, and the peanut butter slab with layers of creamy chocolate mousse. The cakes are fairly priced, and they also have an excellent barista station for all your coffee needs.

Kurtosh is always a busy spot for late night sugar cravings, so be prepared to get takeaway and enjoy your desserts in the adjoining courtyard or park. Even though it’s busy, we find the line usually runs quickly, so there’s not much waiting around.
