Oiden, Sydney - Review
Sitting on Sydney's George Street in Town Hall, Oiden is a small fast food style restaurant specialising in Japanese rice bowls.
It's a popular haunt for busy office workers, students and tourists who are after a hearty meal that won't break the bank.
Walking into Oiden, the decor is like an authentic Japanese food stall, complete with wooden furniture and a faux roof awning. There's a huge variety of rice bowls on the menu, with protiens like wagyu beef, chicken karaage and stewed meat. The bowls are pretty customisable, with the ability to add extra meat or sides. Regardless of what you go for, we recommend adding a half boiled egg onto your bowl - it makes the rice extra creamy and delicious!
Once you've placed you order, the staff will whip it up instantly and you walk past the kitchen, similar to what you'd expect at Subway. Find yourself a table, and dig in! With most items on the menu under $15, you'll be hard-pressed to find better value donburi in Sydney CBD. Overall, Oiden is a great option for people who are hungry for a humble Japanese meal and want value. It does get quite busy during peak lunch and dinner times, so be prepared to wait for a table!
