Gram Pancakes, The Galeries - Review
Gram Pancakes is a Sydney dessert paradise, serving up an aesthetic take on Japanese fluffy pancakes.
While their flagship restaurant in Chatswood has been open for ages, Gram has recently opened a second location in Sydney city. Situated in The Galeries building in Town Hall, it’s a great location for hungry diners visiting from all around the city! First things first, the decor at Gram Pancakes is warm and inviting. There are adorable little plush pancake toys scattered around the restaurant, along with a giant pancake stack in the entryway.
After looking through the colourful menu, we opted to keep it simple with Gram’s signature dish, the Premium Pancakes. They arrived to our table lightning fast, within a matter of seconds. We poured the luscious maple syrup over the pancakes and got stuck in… and let us tell you, once we started we couldn’t stop! These pancakes were light, sweet and deliciously addictive. Usually soufflé pancakes have a slight eggy taste, but these ones had none of that - just a beautiful, light and fluffy flavour. Most other restaurants make their fluffy pancakes free form, whereas Gram makes them in molds with baking paper. While the pancakes don’t have beautiful edges, they are perfect uniform which makes for an impressive stack!
We could have done with a bit more maple syrup and cream, but we understand why the accompaniments are kept minimal - the star of the show is meant to be the pancakes. Sharing here at Gram is easy as they give you little plates for tasting, which means you can order a bit of everything.
Gram Pancakes also has a busy takeaway counter, serving drink and their premium pancakes with flavoured creams. We ordered a match pancakes on our way out and it was just as delicious as on dine in meal! If you don’t have time to wait in line for a table, we’d recommend grabbing some of these pancakes to-go instead.
Our verdict: Gram Pancakes in The Galeries has delicious pancakes, great atmosphere and a convenient location. We can see this place becoming one of our Sydney CBD cafe staples!
