Old School Kafey, Sydney - Review

We love ending a night in Sydney city with a cheeky dessert - who doesn’t! We recently stumbled upon Old School Kafey, a late night  spot close to Sydney’s Chinatown specialising in Asian desserts.

The first thing you’ll notice walking into Old School Kafey is the decor. The eclectic interior is filled with twisted copper pipes, random antique knick knacks and luscious plants. Not something we’ve seen before, but it definitely worked to give the place a fun vibe.

Old School Kafey has a great selection of aesthetic bingsu and sweet brick toast desserts, along with a colourful drinks menu. For those who haven’t tried bingsu before, it’s a Korean style dessert made from flavoured shaved ice and toppings. Brick toast consists of a decadent bread loaf topped with cream and sweets. After ordering at the counter, the staff brought out small side plates, reiterating that their dishes are made for sharing!

We ordered the Matcha Green Tea bingsu. The bingsu texture was more dense than the regular shaved ice we’re accustomed to, meaning it didn’t melt as quickly. The dessert was decently sized and definitely had wow factor! For $18.90, the bingsu was enough to feed two people. We watched tables around us order different flavours and they all looked equally as delicious as out matcha.

Overall, we enjoyed dining at Old School Kafey and we’d love to visit again. We’d recommend visiting Old School Kafey for a fun dessert experience!
