Vine And Grind, Liverpool - Review
If you’ve ever searched on instagram for ‘Sydney cafes’, you’ve probably come across Vine and Grind.
Popular among foodies, this Western Sydney cafe is known for its aesthetic food and engaged online audience. Conveniently located in Westfield Liverpool, Vine and Grind sits in front of the shopping centre’s street entrance, with skylights and glass doors making for a bright and open cafe.
Our picks here were the salted caramel cheesecake pancake special, and the 12 hour chipotle beef sandwich. The salted caramel and crunch in the pancake dish was delicious, however we could tell the the pancakes were definitely not made fresh - they’d been reheated and were unfortunately undercooked and chewy. The beef sandwich certainly looked impressive with a dusting of finely grated cheese, although we felt it was missing an element of freshness which made for a bit of a monotonous flavour overall.
As long-time followers, first-time diners at Vine and Grind, we wanted to love this establishment, but sadly for us this cafe didn’t live up to its social media hype. The actual environment of the cafe leaves a lot to be desired, as it’s situated in the middle of a busy shopping centre thoroughfare. The staff seemed confused with the table layout, giving wrong food orders to the table next to us. The presentation of our food was beautiful, but flavourwise it was a letdown, especially considering the price tag.
In our opinion, there’s plenty of other cafes in Sydney that we’d prefer in terms of flavour and atmosphere, but you’ll have to try Vine and Grind for yourself and make up your own mind!
